Novel methods for accelerating the development of more inhibitor tolerant strains for cellulosic ethanol production
Research Project, 2017 – 2019

The project will focus on accelerating the design-build-test cycle for making industrial production strains for conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to ethanol. It will combine cutting-edge technology for strain engineering with high-throughput analysis of strains directly in lignocellulosic hydrolysates. More robust strains will be developed as well as novel understanding on not only yeast physiology but also on how to design, build and test cell factories for production of any biochemical. The technologies developed will speed up strain development by orders of magnitude and result in novel strains for a sustainable and commercially viable 2G bioethanol production.
