Rolf Johansson

Systems Developer at Operational support

I’ve been working with the Digital Library since 2000, when I first started as a web developer at the Gothenburg University Library. There, I created systems for managing link collections, doctoral theses, electronic journals and a lot of other stuff. Among the most fun to work with was the digitalization of the library’s collection of handwritten documents from the Swedish East India Company. We used Roxen CMS to build most of these beautiful websites, including the public library website. During my time at Gothenburg University Library I created a Federated Search with a single search and facets, that made it easier for the user to navigate all our complicated search interfaces and databases. I’ve also worked a lot with and helped create the architecture for Scigloo, an open source product for managing publication metadata and electronic publishing. In 2010 I started working at Chalmers Library, where I continued development of Scigloo and our local installation called CPL. Today, I work with Research, a new service that will show the impact of all of Chalmers research including publications and research projects. We use .NET and Scrum to deliver our software. I’m a certificed Professional Scrum Master, and I care a lot about UX and helping people using IT to achive their goals and make them happier. I grew up with computers, starting with my first Atari XEGS in 1988 and later I moved on to the Atari ST platform. I’ve built and destroyed numerous hardware and created both games and applications during my career. Before the Internet was popular, I ran numerous BBS's on the Atari. When people started using the web more in the 90’s I learned everything there is to know about it, and today I see it as my obligation to help others not so fortunate of having the big picture and understanding how everything is connected.
