Pawel Piatek

Pawel joined the Industrial Biotechnology group as a post-doctoral researcher in November 2017. His PhD work at the University of Nottingham was in Molecular Microbiology, focusing on the industrially relevant, gas-fermenting acetogen, Clostridium autoethanogenum. Pawel is currently merging his knowledge of microbial syngas fermentations with bioelectrochemical systems. The aim of his project is to design and implement an electrochemically assisted synthesis gas fermentation platform to allow improved microbial redox metabolism that enables higher fermentative product outputs. This project will expand the knowledge of redox systems in acetogens with the aid of metabolic engineering, electrochemistry, and syntrophic fermentations.
