Research Project, 2021 – 2022

Purpose and goal
The industry´s overall need for relevant, updated, reliable and understandable sustainability data is working unsatisfactorily today. There are no standards along and across supply chains for how industrial environmental data connects to material flows and for how data is to be calculated, compiled and communicated. Today much manual work is required, impeding control and decisions. The feasibility study maps the situation to identify which paths to take, and which components and solutions that can contribute to coordination within and between companies in these supply chains.

Direct results A final technical report, including summary and proposed handlingsplan A well-conceived plan of action in the form of a draft proposal for a development project based on the results from this feasibility study The intention is that industrial partners see a clear purpose and value of a development and implementation project. Following the feasibility study, the participating organizations have gained a better understanding of the internal and external conditions for a successful implementation of efficient data management along the organizations´ value chains.

Planned approach and implementation
The work will be performed in 5 work packages (AP). Industry partners will participate in all APs with information, perspectives and feedback. AP1: Inventory of current and future expected practices (month 1-4) AP2: Outlook analysis of trends in business and society (month 1-4) AP3: Analysis of gaps and challenges (month 4-7) AP4: Synthesis and design of solution alternatives and action plan (month 7-9) AP5: Project management and communication (month 1-9)
