Pilot study: Network for cooperation and exchanges between PhD students and Swedish graphene actors
Research Project, 2022

This pilot study investigates the needs of, and the appropriate format for, a national network of PhD students active in 2D materials. The goal is to launch a network and organize two meetings and a workshop with involved PhD students, and to apply for a strategic project to continue the work of consolidating the network in 2022 and onward. We will further establish a procedure for supporting and encouraging exchanges and collaboration between PhD students and Swedish companies or other actors within 2D-materials.

An active PhD student network engenders cross-disciplinary exchanges and collaboration that broaden the perspective and the potential impact of the involved PhD students’ research. Young researchers also tend to act faster and be more open to new ideas than their senior supervisors, whereby academia and industry can be linked through projects born from interaction between PhD students. Through creating a structure for knowledge sharing and joint activities between PhD students and Swedish companies in the area, the project promotes sustainable graphene innovation.
