IN CALM MIND - Innovation critical metals and mineral flows system demonstrator
Research Project, 2022 – 2023

Purpose and goal
Demonstrate a resilient supply system of innovation-critical metals based on sustainable primary extraction and recycled raw material in circular flows, for electrification and fossil-free energy in Sweden. The core of the system demonstrator is a testbed for the industrialization of these circular flows, where we will show solutions for aspects of the flow linked to regulations, recycling technology, data management and automation, information in the value chain, monitoring of batteries during use, standardization, sustainability assessment and business models.

Expected results and effects
The main results from the feasibility study are a mapping of actors and roles in a resilient and sustainable ecosystem, literature and survey study with a focus on good examples, mapping of actors and roles in a demonstrator linked to such an ecosystem, a consortium of dedicated actors within a such ecosystem, as well as a proposal submitted to Vinnova for the next step. Expected effect is a project in stage 2.
