BIM-based virtual takt planning
Research Project, 2023 – 2025

The construction industry's increased specialization has increased the number of information sources that a construction project needs to coordinate, and the risk of misunderstandings and suboptimization has increased. In this context, it is increasingly important to have clear and structured communication and to create a common understanding of the project and its purpose. By having the relevant competence areas agree on a common information structure to describe the implementation, joint reading and better conditions for common understanding are enabled. This allows us to test build virtually and optimize implementation.

The purpose of this research study is to create and monitor the application of working methods for virtual takt planning, as well as evaluate the effect of these.

The goal is to give the construction industry knowledge and understanding of how takt planning can be connected with BIM.

The hope is that virtual pacing provides better:

- review and identification of error sources in the design

- testing and review of buildability of the project

- bringing together knowledge and experience from planning and production

- common target and target plan

- Better working environment with less stress and safer construction sites

- Increased quality and productivity in construction production

- Increased value for the customer

- Development of the industry's common code structure CoClass

The research project is done in close collaboration with Skanska Sweden AB and two to three construction projects will be followed and studied in the study.
