Digital solution for parking and charging management of shared micromobility
Research Project, 2024
– 2026
While shared micro-mobility systems (SMS) have flourished in Sweden, the EU, and globally, their sustainable development faces considerable challenges, including issues related to parking and operational efficiency (both in terms of operation and cost). This project brings together a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively leverage big data analytics, optimization techniques, and digital tools to enhance the planning, optimization, and management of parking spaces and charging solutions for SMS across various urban environments. The project aims to advance the current state-of-the-art by developing scalable, big data-driven digital solutions for the deployment and management of SMS parking and charging. These will provide vital support to key stakeholders, such as urban authorities and SMS operators, equipping them with effective tools and instruments. This initiative will act as a trailblazing demonstration of innovation, connecting major stakeholders involved with SMS, from academic and industrial solution providers (Chalmers University of Technology and Standab) to direct stakeholders (cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm), and system practitioners (WSP). The intended outcomes will address parking issues and enhance system performance in terms of efficiency and sustainability for SMS in diverse contexts, positioning SMS as a flexible, efficient, and sustainable addition to multimodal and inclusive transport systems for diverse user groups.
