RESilient and RESource efficient Additive Manufacturing of large/complex added value parts (RES2AM)
Research Project, 2024
– 2025
The purpose of RES2AM is to advance sustainable, resilient manufacturing by achieving first-time-right production of large, complex metallic components using Powder Bed Fusion - Laser Beam (PBF-LB). The project’s goal is to reduce material waste and energy consumption while ensuring high-quality output through real-time monitoring and process control. RES2AM targets scalable AM solutions, enhancing supply chain resilience in the aerospace and energy sectors.
RES2AM aims to reduce waste and energy by 50% in large-scale AM of metallic parts, achieving first-time-right production. By integrating real-time monitoring, it will cut defect rates by 25% and establish a resilient, scalable supply chain for metallic components in aerospace and energy. The project promotes a shift to sustainable, circular manufacturing, enhancing Sweden´s competitiveness and setting a new standard for efficient, resilient AM on a global scale.
