Integration of organic photovoltaics and rechargeable cement-based batteries for self-powered buildings
Research Project, 2023 – 2025

Modern buildings with large area façade and windows require enormous amount of electricity to power. Is it possible to make use of the façade and windows as well as large volume concrete structures and make buildings to be self-powered for a sustainable city? To answer this fascinating question, this project has the ambitious aim to develop rechargeable cement-based batteries (RCB) with the potential to be used as structural batteries in buildings and integrate with organic photovoltaics (OPV) for self-powered buildings.
