Systems for water reuse in the water wise society
Research Project, 2025

The aim of this project is to investigate how water reuse and alternative water sources can be integrated into a future sustainable and resilient water supply. There are many ways to reuse water, and which solutions are most cost- and resource-efficient and resilient varies depending on local conditions. This project intends to investigate this complexity from a systems perspective.

The project is expected to result in a vision for Sweden´s future use of reused water and alternative water sources. The project also defines which changes that are needed and which initiatives that are prioritized to implement in the next step to accelerate development. The long-term effect of the project is that water reuse and alternative water sources effectively contribute to society´s water supply when it is reasonable in terms of resource use and cost.
