Batteries Sweden BASE Phase 2 - 2025-2029
Research Project, 2025
– 2029
Purpose and goal
The goal is to develop materials, components and batteries with high performance to strengthen the Swedish battery research community along the entire battery value chain. BASE is Sweden´s battery alliance, for long-term battery research with the goal of supporting Swedish industry and academic research in cooperation regarding relevant mining, material development, battery production, battery use and recycling.
Expected effects and result
The goal is to create excellent and internationally competitive research in Sweden regarding all parts of the battery´s value chain, as well as to spread research results between academia and industry so that they leave an impact on society. The center will work to strengthen the industrial ecosystem regarding electrochemical energy storage from SMEs to Swedish international companies. A rapid transfer of knowledge between academia and industry is therefore important.
Planned approach and implementation
The collaboration between the main Swedish battery research groups at Uppsala University, Chalmers, KTH and RISE together with cell manufacturers, the automotive industry, material developers, software and hardware suppliers, recycling companies, and more, will take place in targeted research projects aimed at creating batteries with high performance, low cost, and minimal impact on the environment.
