2D material-based technology for industrial applications (2D-TECH) Phase 2
Research Project, 2025 – 2029

Purpose and goal
Our vision is to consolidate a world-leading Swedish hub for research and utilization of 2D materials. The center is a dynamic, sustainable and cross-disciplinary environment of scientists and industry representatives, where knowledge and technology are created, shared and utilized, giving its partners a technical competitive advantage. Key goals are: 1. Create competence addressing industry needs. 2. Create and strengthen industry-academia links. 3.Increase utilization of 2D materials.

Expected effects and result
-Shorten time for applications of 2D material-based technology. -Increase industry application, jobs and business opportunities with 2D materials. -Improve existing and introduce novel technology. -Establish long-term industry academia collaboration. -Spin-off companies. -Increased synergies and use of 2D-TECH results in other material initiatives. -Increased competitiveness for talents in research & industry.

Planned approach and implementation
Our triple-helix research environment includes Chalmers Technical University and 19 industry partners. The companies at 2D-TECH range from large corporations to university spin-offs. The areas of interest to develop applications with 2D material-based technologies are :
1) Multifunctional Composites,
2) Sustainable Energy,
3) Electronics, and
4) Scalable production of 2D materials.
Our multidisciplinary team of researchers and industry partners will create sustainable and competitive advantages beyond the frame of the center.
