Nonlinear Power-Efficient Transmit Array Architecture – NECTAR
Research Project, 2026 – 2030

This proposal outlines a pioneering approach in wireless communication through the development of a novel nonlinear multi-antenna transmitter. By innovatively utilizing antenna mutual coupling for effective amplitude modulation – a shift from traditional views that consider it detrimental – this unexplored approach aims to overcome existing limitations in frequency, efficiency, power, and linearity, thereby fostering sustainable digital transformation. Our multidisciplinary team, equipped with top-tier expertise in active electronics, passive antenna frontends, and signal processing, along with world-class facilities, is poised to redefine the boundaries and utilities of transmitters by developing a new theoretical framework for nonlinear load-modulated active antenna arrays and demonstrating their advantages experimentally.
