Nexus Vision
Research Project, 2025
– 2026
Purpose and goal
Nexus - A cutting-edge, open and dynamic arena with a clear vision to enable leveraging nuclear energy at scale together with a long-term strategy to mobilize all existing competences in Sweden and create new expertise needed for the wide and accelerated deployment of nuclear energy for de-fossilization. Create conditions for 100+ years of operation of nuclear facilities and establish infrastructure to drive R&D towards recycling of spent nuclear fuel.
Expected effects and result
The Vision project will establish:
* a powerful consortium of partners and stakeholders, ready to establish the Nexus cluster by 2026-03-31,
* a system of governance that enables strong, fair and equitable decision-making in the cluster,
* a range of initial projects and project ideas to embed into the Nexus application,
* the formation of nodes in charge of different technical and non-technical areas,
* stakeholder´s perspectives to develop,
* proposal of new nuclear infrastructures.
Planned approach and implementation
Key initial tasks of the Vision project are:
* Broad and focused communication
* Connecting with key partners
* Formalizing links with projects, initiatives and centres in the field
* Collaborative discussions with relevant large scale EU projects and partnerships
* Determine the form of governance, mandate and execution of Nexus
* Arrange workshops with technical and non-technical experts at the partner universities
