Svenskt Excellenskluster för CCUS
Research Project, 2025
– 2026
Purpose and goal
The main aim is to deliver a solid foundation for launching a national CCUS excellence cluster in Sweden. Long-term goals are to establish a world-leading research and innovation cluster for CCUS technology in Sweden, position Sweden as an EU leader in CCUS based value chains, define a long-term strategic roadmap for CCUS deployment that supports Sweden’s net-zero climate targets and strengthen pathways for Swedish market creation and policy alignment for CCUS solutions.
Expected effects and result
We expect to map and involve key actors from research, industry, and policy; create the partnership structure, governance model, and thematic research priorities for the cluster. To create a preliminary draft of a national CCUS roadmap, including technology development priorities, infrastructure and regulatory needs, market and value chain opportunities and to develop an implementation plan with a funding strategy for 2026–2030.
Planned approach and implementation
The planning project will be organized into 5 integrated work packages that will include Project management, Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement, Technology & Infrastructure Assessment, Cluster Vision & Roadmap Development, and Governance & Funding Model. RISE will lead the work in collaboration with all project partners and involved actors.
