Power System Digital Twin for the Industry Electrification
Research Project, 2025

Purpose and goal
The aim of the feasibility study is to identify solutions related to technical, financial, commercial, and practical challenges, in order to, through the proposed center, enable the electrification of industry with a continued stable electricity grid through an efficient information flow and digitalized control between involved actors. In addition, the feasibility study aims to expand the already established consortium with additional Swedish need owners.

Expected effects and result
The feasibility study will contribute to the basis to create and operate a center where Swedish need owners (incl. power-intensive industry, equipment and service providers, network owners, electricity companies, academia and research) can jointly develop, test and validate solutions to strengthen Swedish competitiveness, accelerate industry´s electrification and active participation in the electricity system, and support the Swedish electricity system´s ability to enable the energy transition.

Planned approach and implementation
The center is planned to be built on three foundations (physical, digital, and communication infrastructure) which will be integrated and are predicted to contain the following main parts: Real-Time Simulator, Technology & Communication Platform, Analysis Platform, and Operations Center & Data Hub. The project will be implemented in the form of work packages (WP): WP1: Collaboration WP2: Requirement specs WP3: Investment decision support WP4: Market analysis WP5: Project management & consortium
