Young Manufacturing Leaders
Research Project, 2024 – 2025

The Young Manufacturing Leaders for Industry 5.0 (YML 5.0) is a project aimed at further enlarging a sound community of young people - students, PhDs, and young professionals and entrepreneurs, etc - who share the vision of a more digital and sustainable manufacturing. The YML community originated in 2020 with the goal of promoting manufacturing to younger generations and bridging the gap between available and needed skills. Since its origins, YML has constantly been appointed as a key success story of EIT Manufacturing. This project aims to maintain the trend by enlarging the community and giving it more solidity. To achieve this objective, the project will involve 10 partners and will create a new City Hub in Grenoble (France). Moreover, YML 5.0 will produce 2 new Learning Paths to enrich its service portfolio. The topics addressed this year are guided by the concept of Industry 5.0 and the role of digital transformation in manufacturing to foster sustainability. Besides, it will organize the 2024 edition of the sustainable manufacturing innovation contest and the YML Summit linked to the World Manufacturing Forum. YML 5.0 is perfectly aligned to other European initiatives, such as the EU Industry 5.0 Community of Practice, keeping the YML network relevant in the changing global scenario.
