Gigabits at THz frequencies
Research Project, 2014
– 2017
We propose a solution to increase the data rate in wireless links by utilizing ’THz-frequencies’. Utilization of higher frequency bands above 100 GHz is unavoidable in order to fulfill tomorrow’s need of communication and tele presence. The proposed project is aiming at new solutions for wireless communication, enabling frequencies above 100 GHz to be used for commercial applications. This will be accomplished by developing completely new highly integrated receive/transmit circuits at a carrier frequency of 145 GHz, that can be mass produced with low-cost semiconductor fabrication technology. In addition, we will develop an antenna platform for heterogeneous integration of THz-components allowing Systems In Package, SIP, to be realized.
