Big Data and Internet of Things for the Sustainable Living in the Future City
Research Project, 2013
– 2016
In the energy sector, the ongoing trend towards the Internet of Things is strongly reflected in the increased deployment of smart meters. This leads to new research challenges which we address in this proposal: 1. We develop new methods and tools to ensure at metropolitan scale data collection and operation of IoT networks. 2. We utilize the large amounts of data collected from smart meters etc. and provide new tools for data validation etc. 3. We provide consumers with an "energy facebook”, where consumers share energy savings and get motivated to further reduce their energy consumption. Also, we provide tools allowing households to analyze their energy consumption and identify energy intensive appliances that are in need of replacement.
