SiiS - Strategic industrial information Systems
Research Project, 2016 – 2019

The application focuses on IT and process improvements in mechanical pulp (TMP) production to reach a 25-35% reduction in electricity consumption at the same time as a 50% reduction in the pulp quality is obtained. Large amount of information is handled directly and indirectly in the processes. There exist a need in the learning organization to use the digitized information in a more optimal way compared with today as it is expected to affect the organization and the effectiveness in a disruptive way. The application includes a proposal for the introduction of new analytical tools based on generic learning algorithms for large data sets combined with physical modelling. The idea is to deal with the exponentially growing information flow. These optimization algorithms will be a tool for the operating point selection and economic validation of process improvements. Such online tools for statistical monitoring on interactive IT and automation platforms are not available today.
