LESS - LågEnergiStrategiska System
Research Project, 2015
– 2019
Effective energy solutions for production of mechanical pulp (C)TMP are vital to meet the increased competition from other materials and media. Research activities financed by Swedish Energy Agency indicate that a 30% reduced electricity consumption can be obtained if innovative control concepts, new measurement technologies, advanced physical and empirical modelling is used. To secure the research results implementation and follow up must be performed in the industry. The optimization is, however, complex and different competences should be coordinated in a mill strategic perspective. The focus in the project will be an introduction of new control concepts on-line in four mills.
The goal is to reach 25-35% reduction in electricity and 50% reduced pulp property variations at given heat balance and controlled process. The research coincide with the industry interests and improvements are estimated to result in 15 kton/year reduction in CO2-emissions per mill.
