Hull optimisation for propulsion system performance
Research Project, 2016 – 2018

The project aims to develop hull shape optimisation procedures with the objective to reduce the required Power. This in turn relies on three sub-objectives:

  • Improved understanding of propulsion system interaction effects to efficiently identify key parameters for the optimisation;
  • Development of suitable optimisation algorithm set-ups for commercial design time scales;
  • Identification of analysis tool necessary to capture correct level of flow physics to yield reliable optimisation results.
