DC fast charging for facility integration
Research Project, 2017 – 2018

Th e energy system transition with continued installations of solar and wind power in
combination with a growing electric vehicle fleet contributes to reaching the climate goals but also result in large requirements on local facility grids in urban areas. The project aims to
integrate fast charging of electric vehicles with local energy storage, solar cells and
intelligent energy management using a local DC grid. The project will also demonstrate
vehicle to grid functionality. This will enable more facility owners to provide fast charging while at the same time reducing operating costs due to reduced capacity fees. The project will develop and test DC based fast chargers with vehicle to grid functionality in two pilot installations. Further, a unique arm is developed to increase availability for fast charging inurban environments without negative impact on existing environment.
