Grid Strength of a Converter-Dominated Renewable Power System
Research Project, 2018 – 2019

The main aim of the project is to re-evaluate classical measures and propose new suitable measures for evaluating grid strength of power-electronic converter dominated renewable power system. The specific goals include:

1. Investigate characteristics of fast variations and disturbances in voltage and frequency that may occur in a renewable power system
2. Identify conditions under which the classical measures for evaluating both the grid electrical and mechanical strength are no longer appropriate in a renewable power system dominated with power-electronic converters.
3. Evaluate and propose new suitable grid strength measures.
