Process Integration for Strategic Development of Industrial Energy Systems
Research Project, 2019 –

During 2019, the funding will be used as co-funding of a new Post-doc position in the area of development of advanced biorefinery concepts for production of liquid biofuels from lignocellulosic biomass, with focus on: (i) multi-scale process design and multi-criteria assessment of innovative (low TRL) conversion technologies of lignocellulosic biomass residues, and (ii) value chain analysis for development of knowledge and tools, standards to overcome supply chain, technological and end-use barriers. We will, moreover, fund projects related to process integration of decarbonization measures for the oil and/or petrochemical industry and/or process integration of advanced biorefinery concepts in the pulp and paper industry; Further development of the ENPAC tool for generation of energy market scenarios for assessing profitability and carbon balances of energy investments in industry; Increased involvement in ongoing and new Annexes within the IEA TCP Industrial Energy-related Technologies and Systems as well as senior support activities to guide Elin Svensson’s plans to apply for Docent title in late 2019.
