Integrated analytics for advanced machinery
Research Project, 2019 – 2022

Purpose and goal
The purpose and goal of the project is to improved resource utilisation through a integrated metrology and analytics approach to analyse, predict and optimise advanced manufacturing machinery.

Expected results and effects
In addition to the direct project results, IAM is intended to stimulate further activities related to increasing resource efficiency, flexibility and productivity by the implementation of smart sensor systems and analysis of the big data sets generated by such systems. Thus, the project aims to involve more people and stimulate further digitalization projects among the consortium members and other organizations taking part of the project dissemination.

Planned approach and implementation
The consortium puts together experienced research and industrial partners with rich expertise in all key areas of information technology and manufacturing processes from complementary areas: Sensor and data acquisition systems (SPM), Machine tool design and production (Modig), Manufacturing systems (AB Volvo, GKN and Volvo Cars). The research partners, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (project coordinator) and Chalmers are two of the top Swedish research centres in manufacturing with the responsibility to educate next generation engineers to integrate analytics.
