Demonstration of a liquid cooled battery system for Electric Vehicles
Research Project, 2019
– 2021
The project addresses the challenge of efficient thermal management of battery systems. The chosen approach, using a dielectric liquid cooling system, is novel because the cooling liquid is in direct contact with battery cells and the Battery Management System (BMS) resulting in a battery system with faster charging, longer lifetime of battery pack, lower weight in combination with higher capacity, easier recycling and intrinsically safer. A major project target is to demonstrate a re-cycling friendly and an intrinsically safe battery system ready for application adaption and upscaling.
