Grafen i högtalarmembran
Research Project, 2019
– 2021
Purpose and goal: -To develop a self-standing membrane made of graphene oxide and cellulose-based materials. -To prove the new material’s outstanding sound rendering capacity. -The goal is also to demonstrate that these membranes can be produced in a quality secure and efficient way. Expected results and effects: We aim at defining the structural parameters in order to obtain maximum performance and hence lay the ground for utilisation of this new material in drivers. Based on the outcome of the development work a production will be set up. The high-end sector of the market will first be targeted to clearly demonstrate the advantage of the technology. The goal is to have a line of product based on graphene oxide-cellulose membranes to integrate in Marten’s products. Then the extension to other ends of the business will be considered, potentially compromising performance to meet price criteria. Approach and implementation: Chalmers will be responsible for the development of the new membranes and Marten will contribute with the technical design. Characterization of the inner structure of the membrane relative to its pure mechanical performance will be made. The membrane will be mounted in drivers and tested for frequency response, impulse response, phase and distortion. A series of different prototypes of membranes will be developed and evaluated together with leading manufacturers locally and abroad. A future production is planned to take place in collaboration with manufacturers of drivers.
