Re:El - Initial System Demonstration of Regional Electrified Logistics
Research Project, 2020 – 2021

Purpose and goal: For the first time demonstrate fully battery electric HDVs in regional logistics together with Scania, Volvo, logistic operators, energy & grid operators in Mälardalen & Västra Götaland. Prepare for a large scale system demonstrator with multiple logistic flows including approximately 100 BETs and supporting charging infrastructure in Mälardalen, Västra Götaland and Skåne. Define a system architecture and development process that enables good and gradually expanded functionality for a large-scale system demonstration including e.g. data handling and policy development.
Expected results and effects: - Assumptions about the initial system demonstrator are compared with actual operation - Processes that prevent spread of business-critical data during system development & operation, respectively & that maintain competition in line with legislation - Development plans for system models - Aggregated requirements for the large system demo, incl customer functions, business conditions & societal benefits, implemented in interoperable scalable architectures, modules, & interfaces - Plans for operation & data monitoring of the large demo with detailed financial follow-up
Approach and implementation: REEL will run between 201105 to 211231 with a total project budget of MSEK 30.1. The project will be conducted in four vertical & two horizontal work packages. Within the two vertical work packages AP1a-b, demonstration of electrified regional logistics flows including operation of vehicles and related services will take place. In AP2a-b, mapping for large-scale system demonstration of electrified regional logistics flows in three regions will take place. Within AP3, the project will define the basis for decisions for an interoperable system architecture and development process.
