Visualization of cell behavior and tissue development in innovative protein-engineered biomaterials
Research Project, 2011 – 2015

The aim is to form a fundamental and visual understanding for how differentiation and organization of stem cells is governed by the microenvironment for the development of tissue implants with sustained function and 3D architecture. Scaffolds composed of engineered proteins with unique combinations of biochemical and micromechanical properties will be customized by assembling peptide building blocks in a well-controlled way. To be able to study cell behavior in these sensitive and soft materials, an emerging category of microscopy techniques (CARS and SHG) will be utilized
