University entrepreneurship: The case of university spin-offs in a network perspective (USONET)
Research Project, 2015 – 2017

This project deals with university spin-off companies and how they establish themselves in business networks.

The aim is firstly to map how university spin-offs establish themselves in networks in order to commercialise their ideas, and secondly to analyse what effects such attempts have on the innovation, the spin-off company and the network.

The project adopts a qualitative research method based on case studies, primarily spin-offs from Chalmers and Lund University. Different technological fields are covered, including e.g. life science, ICT and new materials.

The project intends to contribute to new knowledge about the complex commercialisation of science. By focusing on university spin-offs and their networking we start to link the two research fields of entrepreneurship and business networks. These fields currently have few connections, but they offer a potential for fruitful combination.
