Buildings, Change, Futurity – Reading Seattle Public Library and Sendai Mediateque

In this paper Seattle Public Library designed by OMA/LMN and Sendai Mediatheque designed by Toyo Ito are investigated as specific operational modes when it comes to the relation between institution, organisation and space. These modes suggests fundamentaly different attitudes towards change and the future unknown, and where the spatial design is a key factor. This paper investigates spatial design as a integral part in the shaping of institutional and organisational practices.
