The Mutual Information Constellation
Paper in proceeding, 2005

In this paper, we will explain the usefulness of what we call the mutual information (MI) constellation. We will show how it can be used both in analysis and in design of codes. The MI constellation will be of special interest in case of in-line bit interleaving, since it is then very useful in the design of the outer code. The system considered is 2 bits/symbol serially concatenated trellis coded modulation (SCTCM) with 8PSK signaling over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.
