Noise Figure Non-reciprocity in Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers with Zero-Dispersion-Wavelength Variations

We show theoretically and experimentally, that the noise figure in a fiber parametric amplifier with zero-dispersion-wavelength variations depends on amplifying direction, contrary to the gain spectrum. Raman phonon induced noise leads to this non-reciprocity. ©2010 IEEE.
