The Seaweed Biorefinery - Towards a Bio-Based Society
Conference poster, 2013

At Chalmers, the main research assignments within SEAFARM are preservation of algal biomass, analyses of biomass composition, recovery of fermentable sugars, proteins and lipid soluble compounds, as well as fermentability of the algal carbohydrates. One of our most important objectives is to develop methods for compatible extractions of the targeted compounds. We recently started the practical work and the initial tasks have been to develop standard methods for fragmentation of biomass, simultaneous extraction of proteins and carbohydrate as well as protein and carbohydrate analyses.
