Line Balancing

This article describes a technique for which the main objectives are to minimize the idle time when work is allocated along a line and spread it as evenly as possible across the workstations. Line balancing comprises two aspects, that is, determination of the required number of stations and the assignment of tasks to each station with the objective of maximizing efficiency.
