Coordination in logistics systems
Other conference contribution, 2006

To produce and distribute products and services coordination of activities in between different functions and organisations is needed. To achieve coordination a number of mechanisms and strategies are suggested in literature. These are reviewed in the article and their applicability within the logistics area is discussed. However, which coordination mechanisms and strategies that are employed are dependent on the context that organisations operate in. Consequently, to advance the knowledge on coordination of material flows in between various organisations, production and distribution systems with different product and production system characteristics in various parts of the supply chain is interesting to study further.
