The Role of Secondary Software in Automotive Ecosystems
Other conference contribution, 2015

This research addresses the role of secondary software (SSW) in Model Driven Engineering (MDE) in the context of automotive systems. SSW are supporting tools like scripts or glue code written to solve problems developers encounter during primary software development. Although the automotive industry derives enormous benefits from MDE, without a deep understanding of supporting tools like secondary software, many benefits remain too difficult to achieve. Through a case study we aim to raise awareness to practice and academia about the role SSW and we propose a vision for future development of SSW so as to speed up software/system development in automotive ecosystems.
