Object-Figure Misfits
Magazine article, 2017

In Stockholm, urban booths constitute iconic architectural objects that are deeply engrained in public consciousness. They offer space and various services, but they are in addition a set of distinct figures that inhabit streets and squares. Modelled after the body that they are meant to house, their silhouettes suggest an almost human presence. Their impact on public space lies in the combination of a narrowly defined function with an overt architectural figure. Dead Ringers is an attempt to provide a reconceived understanding of this specific type of public space through the lens of architectural figuration.
