Polarization mode dispersion induced pulse broadening in optical fibers
Journal article, 1998

A simple and exact analytical expression is derived for the amount of broadening that a pulse suffers when it is subjected to the combined actions of polarization mode dispersion, chromatic dispersion, and chirping. The theory is then applied to various manifestations of second-order polarization mode dispersions.
