Design and Optimization of Induction Machines for E-mobility Applications
Paper in proceeding, 2022

This paper presents design and optimization process of induction machines used in e-mobility applications. Focus is placed on the motors employed mostly during acceleration and as an assisting booster to the main permanent magnet machine used as the main driver of the vehicle. The design process is well elaborated and then an optimization is carried on a motor used in a passenger car. The optimization results show that employing induction machine, if well optimized toward performance requirements, can be a good complement to permanent magnet machines in all-wheel-drive vehicles. In order to achieve such a target, a good balance between performance, cost, efficiency and sustainability is required which can be obtained through a proper optimization process. The optimization process employed in this paper is based on a multi-objective genetic algorithm and a proper balance between different attributes is made in the optimized induction machine design.
