Halo Nuclei
Book chapter, 2023

Limits of neutron-rich nuclei have been reached only for eight or nine lightest elements among ∼100 elements that form our world. Where we reached the limit of existence, nuclei present exotic forms and behaviors that could not be seen in normal nuclei. Neutron halos are one of the most exotic phenomena presenting the quantum tunneling effect of loosely bound system. They present an extra size of neutron distribution and other associated phenomena. In this chapter, we introduce the physics base of the neutron halo and some associated experimental developments. Halo phenomena in other matter than nuclei are also briefly introduced.
