Pyramidal microLEDs delivering RGB in single materials system
Paper in proceeding, 2025

Polar Light Technologies has developed an innovative microLED solution that generates RGB emission within a single materials system, achieving a significant leap in microLED technology, especially for micro-projector and display applications. By employing a unique bottom-up approach based on hexagonal GaN pyramids with InGaN quantum wells (QW), microLEDs with peak emission at 470 nm, 520 nm and 625 nm were demonstrated without the need for separate phosphor or quantum dot color conversion. This integration will not only simplify the future manufacturing process but also enhance the color uniformity and stability throughout a device.
