Heat and mass transfer to active particles in fluidized beds — An update
Journal article, 2027

In previous investigations, heat and mass transfer to or from active particles in a fluidized bed of inert particles are described based on correlations involving the Archimedes number ( Ar) . Since many users are accustomed to relationships from single-phase flow where Reynolds number ( Re ) is the parameter involved in heat and mass transfer correlations, it could be of interest to translate the expressions from Ar to Re . This is the purpose of the present work, which uses well-known relationships for minimum and optimum fluidization velocities to convert Ar into Re . As a result of this transformation, the influence of gas velocity becomes obvious, and that is also elucidated by describing the heat transfer at velocities above and below the optimum velocity.
