This article deals with the question of how to understand the appearance of the actual forms which build society. What are they expressions of and what invisible structures do they appear from and develop? Especially three aspects of significance for the appearance of form are discussed, based in architectural theoreticians like Sanford Kwinter and Stan Allen and which have been reoccurring themes in architectural theory during last decades: infrastructure and materiality; relations between field and object; and relations between virtuality and form.
