Carbon Footprint analysis of organic Spanish and conventional Austrian cucumbers

Based on a field research in Spain and prior reports, this study compares the environmental impact of cucumber production and import. Calculations for this impact are measured by carbon footprint and are based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method as well as on the LCA actor analysis. The presented results consist of my diploma thesis (in progress) at Johannes Kepler University, Linz/Austria and a joint work (published report) with Chalmers University of Technology at the division of Environmental Systems Analysis, Göteborg/Sweden. Data collection and calculations were carried out with my best knowledge and conscience.
