Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL)- A Step to Understanding of the Process
Paper in proceedings, 2006
This paper deals with the results which were obtained at cutting with different lubrication media such as; Minimum
Quantity Lubrication (MQL), compressed air and emulsion. The results are compared with dry cutting in terms of
chip contact, tool wear and temperature effect. The face turning tests showed that MQL changes the friction in the
sliding region and this change affects the tool wear both on the primary and secondary cutting edge. The
temperature measurements with special inserts have shown that, the lowest temperature is obtained when using
conventional cooling media followed by MQL, compressed air and dry machining.
