Delivering Customer Value in the Age of Autonomous, Continuously Evolving Systems
Paper in proceeding, 2016

The last century has seen unprecedented improvements in the quality of the human condition and technology is at the heart of this progress. Now we are experiencing an even bigger leap as we move towards a new level of digitization and automation. The fuel of this emerging Internet of Things reality is software and the key challenge is to continuously deliver value to customers. To deliver on this, organizations need to adopt a novel approach, evidence-based development, where data-driven decisions by R&D teams are complemented by automated experimentation by families of deployed systems. The keynote first introduces the aforementioned developments, then discusses the key areas of speed, data and ecosystems and finally presents the implications for organizations that seek to continuously deliver value to their customers.
