Hydrography and environmental measurements from mobile platforms
Paper in proceeding, 2018

Hydrography and environmental measurements from mobile platforms offer a wide range of new possibilities in aquatic science and monitoring. In this presentations, and conference paper, it is our intention to demonstrate the potential of these methods in different applications ranging from air surveys with flying drones to surface and underwater measurements from ships of opportunity and autonomous vehicles. Pumped flow through systems offer low risk environmental data collection from ships of opportunity, like ferries and cargo ships. Wind and wave propelled platforms equipped with off-the-shelf oceanographic sensors are used for environmental monitoring and targeted climate studies. Examples of where topographic surveys are done from Lidar equipped flying drones and mobile floating platforms analysed with dedicated mapping software will also be presented.
